Hoses, Fires and Restrictions
a) Hosepipes are not allowed except where required to fill water butts in extreme dry conditions. The council will notify allotment garden tenants when they are permitted to do so. When filling a container tenants must have consideration for others who wish to use water.
b) Hosepipes or siphoning devices are not to be used to remove water from any water trough connected to any mains water supply within the site.
c) Tenants must take every precaution to prevent contamination of water supplies.
d) Water may only be extracted from a water course with the approval of the council and subject to the appropriate licence.
e) Where 1200 litre water containers are used, they can only be used for water harvesting and must not be filled via council owned water points.
f) The council are not obligated to provide sites with water and can turn the water supply off at any time without prior notice.
g) Fires are only permitted during the winter months starting 1 October and ending 31 March.
h) Fires must be contained and under no circumstance left unattended. They should not cause a nuisance to neighbouring tenants or residents. Where local circumstances necessitate, Fires may not be permitted at any time.
i) Tenants are not to bring household items or waste of any description on to the allotment garden for burning.
j) Tenants are not to install any garden ponds or other water features without prior written permission of the council.
k) No heavy plant, mini diggers or trailers etc. are to be brought onto any allotment site without prior written permission from the council.
