Allotment Rules

Trees

a) Tenants must not cut or prune any trees adjoining the allotment garden without prior permission from the council. This does not affect the routine pruning of the tenant’s own trees and boundary hedges on the allotment garden.

b) A maximum of 6 dwarf fruit trees are allowed per plot allotment garden, subject to prior written permission from the council, which must be kept in good condition. No other trees may be planted. You may be liable for the cost of removal if the trees are not well maintained.

c) In cases of orchards prior written permission must be given by the council in order to plant more than 6 dwarf fruit trees on a single allotment garden.

d) Prior to pruning or felling of a tree, checks must be undertaken to see if the tree is subject to a Tree Preservation Order.  If the tree is the subject of a Tree Preservation Order then the appropriate procedure and any necessary permission must be obtained.
