Cultivation and use of allotment gardens
a) Tenants must use allotment gardens for their own personal use and must not carry out any business or sell produce from the allotment gardens. (Site run plant and vegetable sale fundraising events are permitted subject to prior approval by the council).
b) Allotment gardens must be kept clean, free from weeds, well maintained and kept in a good state of cultivation (minimum 75%) and fertility.
c) If an allotment garden is left in a poor state of cultivation or requires the removal of materials, property or rubbish, the tenant may be required to reimburse the council for reasonable costs of works carried out by the council to clear the allotment garden.
d) Tenants must leave a minimum gap of 0.5 meters between their allotment garden and any site perimeter boundary to allow access for maintenance.
e) Tenants are not to cause damage to other property or crops, nor to the infrastructure of the site e.g. roadways, paths, fences, gates etc.
f) The tenant must not deposit any matter in the hedges, ditches or brook courses situated within the site.
g) The senant is expected to compost all waste plant material except for pernicious weeds (e.g. plants infected with fungal disease such as Club Root, Downey Mildew or White Rot) which should be burnt when dry during permitted periods (Rule 5.g.), or taken to an approved disposal facility. If Japanese Knotweed is suspected on site it should not be moved and must be reported to the council immediately.
