Chair's allowance

The Chair of the Neighbourhood Board for Meir North will receive a Chair’s allowance of £12,000 (for the current year 2026/27) in recognition of the significant time commitment, leadership responsibilities, and accountability associated with the role.

The Chair is responsible for providing strategic direction to the Board, coordinating partnership working across a range of organisations and stakeholders, overseeing the development and delivery of local priorities, and ensuring effective governance and decision-making. The allowance reflects the substantial contribution required to lead the Board’s work, represent the interests of the community, and support the successful implementation of initiatives that will deliver long-term benefits for Meir North and its residents.

The allowance is funded from the approved programme budget and has been agreed as a legitimate governance and delivery cost. It does not constitute a salary or employment arrangement; rather, it is a contribution towards the considerable time, commitment, and responsibilities required to effectively lead the Board, engage with partners and residents, represent the programme at local and regional levels, and ensure strong oversight, accountability, and successful delivery of neighbourhood priorities.
