Warm Homes: Local Grant

What does the scheme offer?

If your current EPC is D, E, F or G and you own your own home or you are a private tenant you could be eligible to receive:

  • Insulation and ventilation upgrades – to help keep your home warmer in winter and cooler in summer
  • A low carbon heating system, such as an Air Source Heat Pump – where this offers an affordable solution for your household
  • Solar panels – to give you the opportunity to generate a portion of your own electricity, reducing your annual bills

Am I eligible?

You must either own your home or rent privately. You also need to meet one of the following eligibility criteria:

  • The total annual household income, including the incomes of all adults living there before tax is £36,000 or less. If you are slightly above this threshold but you have a number of dependents and/or you are struggling with bills, please apply and we can look at ways to support you.
  • You or a member of your household is in receipt of a qualifying means tested benefit. Eligible benefits are listed on our website.

If you rent privately we will also need to speak with your landlord as there are additional criteria that apply. Please make sure you get permission from your landlord before applying.

Unfortunately this funding cannot be used to upgrade your home if you are a council or housing association tenant. You should contact your landlord if you think your home would benefit from heating or insulation improvements.

What happens next?

Once you have applied, Community Home Solutions will review your application and contact you directly to talk you through any additional information required. Once your application is approved, they will arrange for a home survey to be carried out by a qualified retrofit assessor.

Who is carrying out the work?

All funding applications are arranged on your behalf by Community Home Solutions working with Stoke-on-Trent City Council. Community Home Solutions will support you to apply for funding and work with the council’s approved contractor in your area who will carry out  work at your home.
