
We are excited to announce a further round of the Small Community Event and Heritage Asset Grants programme, funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF). This programme aims to support local initiatives that enrich our city's culture and history.
What can you apply for?
The programme offers two funding streams:
- Small Community Events: Organise engaging events within Stoke-on-Trent, with grants covering costs like professional help, staff salaries, and service fees.
- Small Heritage Asset Grants: Breathe new life into local heritage assets by applying for funding for fixtures and fittings and labour costs for the physical restoration of an asset.
We welcome both new and existing projects, provided they align with Our City, Our Wellbeing priorities including making the city; healthier, wealthier, safer and greener.
Funding is available for a wide range of initiatives including:
- Arts, Culture and Heritage projects – Highlighting the city’s rich history and heritage.
- Community Events – recognising community spirit bringing people together in celebration.
- Environmental Activities – Activities/events that enhance our local spaces and promote sustainability.
- Youth Engagement – Encouraging children and young people to take part in local activities.
How much funding is available?
- Small Event Grants – Grant ranges from £500 - £1,000
- Small Heritage Asset Grants – Grants ranges from £500 - £2,500
You will need to match this contribution with match in-kind, which can be a combination of:
- Volunteer time (including management and staff)
- Costs associated with the event space.
Who can apply?
Legally constituted organisations based within Stoke-on-Trent City Council boundaries are eligible to apply.

How are applications assessed?
While the council follows government guidelines, they prioritise projects that:
- Align with the council’s Priorities.
- Complement existing initiatives.
- Offer exceptional value for money.
- Encourage collaboration between organisations.
- Can be completed by March 31st 2026.
How will successful projects receive funding?
Once a project is approved and you have entered into a Grant Funding Agreement, you'll receive a grant payment upon submitting a claim form with proof of project expenditure. Following approval by the programme team, the project lead will receive payment electronically.
