There are two ways to convert a civil partnership into marriage:
- standard conversion
- two-stage procedure
Standard conversion is a simple administrative process where both partners attend an appointment at the register office to complete a declaration.
The couple signs it to confirm they have not dissolved their civil partnership and both wish to convert their civil partnership to a marriage.
You can choose to say the declaration wording aloud to one another before signing the conversion document. We will then register the marriage and issue the marriage certificate.
