Supporting electric vehicle (EV) Infrastructure in Stoke-on-Trent
In March 2022, the UK Government released its Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Strategy, which asks local authorities to create and deliver local plans for EV charging.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council is committed to helping residents, businesses, and visitors make the switch to electric vehicles. We are currently developing a local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Strategy to guide the rollout of charging points across the city.
Our goal is to make it easier for people to charge electric vehicles by increasing access to charging infrastructure citywide by 2030. This is because the government plans to end the sale of new petrol and diesel cars and vans by that date. We’ll focus on places where people live, especially those with limited off-street parking.
Delivery Programme
Our delivery programme outlines the key projects, actions, and targets for increasing access to EV charging across Stoke-on-Trent over the next five years.
This plan will be updated annually to reflect progress and ensure we stay on track.

Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Strategy
We’ve received an indicative allocation of £3 million from the Department for Transport’s Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) fund to support this work.
The EV Infrastructure Strategy plans to make it easier for everyone to switch to electric cars. Our plan is important because it will help us improve air quality and get our city ready for more people driving electric vehicles. We want to make sure our residents are healthy, and our city is good for business and the environment.
This plan shows how we'll improve electric car charging points across Stoke-on-Trent.
We'll keep updating this document, and it will guide our work until 2030.
