Due to the extreme heat, there may be some delays to waste collections.

Our crews’ welfare is a priority, so they’ll adapt to the heat with regular breaks, hydration and sunscreen. Please leave bins out by 6am. We’ll collect them as soon as we can.

About the Big Green Fund

We are pleased to launch The Big Green Fund for 2025. This initiative will see communities come together to help us make Stoke-on-Trent clean and green, by encouraging residents to take pride in where they live and promote positive mental health and well-being amongst the community.

We are so proud to support our communities with grants of up to £15,000 (three projects - total of £45,000- one area in the North, one area Central and one area South) so you can tackle projects such as:

  • Introducing a community garden
  • Creating a wildflower meadow
  • Tidying up an unadopted alleyway
  • Orchards
  • Install a bird watching area

Residents will need to hit a set criteria to be in a chance of a successful application.

Applicants must follow the below criteria:

  • Must be council owned land.
  • If the applicant is a tenant of a council building/property then they must have an active lease in place for 5/10 years.
  • Requirement for them to maintain the garden/improvements for a 5 year post improvement period.
  • The council retains the funding for the project work and the work is delivered by council in house teams.
  • Successful applicants awarded funds will be required to sign up to a maintenance licence agreement and provide adequate risk assessments and insurances for these duties.
