Help us improve Electric Vehicle Charging in Stoke-on-Trent
We want to make sure everyone in Stoke-on-Trent who drives an electric car can charge it easily, wherever they are. We know people have different needs, and we want to hear from you.
If you can't charge your electric car at home or work, there are three main types of public charging points:
- Residential Charging (for long stays/overnight parking, 6+ hours): These are usually located in residential areas, on street or in public car parks, enabling residents without off street parking access, to charge overnight.
- Destination Charging (for medium stays, 1+ hours): You'll often find these in public car parks. They charge your car faster than residential chargers and are good for places where you park for an hour or more, like when you're shopping.
- In-Transit Charging (Rapid, less than 30 minutes): These super-fast chargers are usually located on the main road network, such as motorway service stations where there is high parking turnover. The chargers are ideal for a quick charge when completing a longer journey.
When identifying the most suitable locations to install charging infrastructure, we consider:
- Demand: Where do people most want to charge their electric cars?
- Electricity: Is there enough power in that area to support charging?
- Parking: Are there good parking spots available for charging stations?
- Accessibility: Prioritising residential areas with limited off street parking provision
