Stoke-on-Trent City Council is awarding £132,467 of funding to 23 local organisations as part of the latest round of funding of the Household Support Grant to help them cope during the winter.
The money is the city’s share of the government’s £500 million Household Support Fund, which runs from 6 October 2021 until 31 March 2022.
Funding is available to support families with dependant children and other vulnerable households
Types of support available include shopping vouchers, such as food and clothing vouchers plus vouchers for gas and electricity. Information on how to access support is available on www.stoke.gov.uk.
Cllr Abi Brown, leader of Stoke-on-Trent City Council said:
"I am delighted that we are able to share the latest round of funding with a number of local charities and organisations as part of the Household Support Grant.
"This funding will help to support the most vulnerable households across the city with food, utility bills, and other essentials over the winter period and help with the work they continue to do within our communities.”
This latest allocation of funding adds to the £1.5million already distributed to vulnerable families via free school meal vouchers and grants to charities, community groups and community churches across the city. The remaining £1.1 million of the Household Support Grant will be allocated over the coming months and includes support for families over the Easter holidays.
