Adult learning courses: funding and discounts

Can I get my course funded?

You may be able to get a funded course if you:

• Are aged 19 or over on 31 August before your course starts.
• Live in England, and your course is delivered in England.
• Normally live in the UK.
• Live in an area where Adult Skills Funding is available, including Stoke-on-Trent.

Continuing learners

If you started a funded course before local authority funding changes and have not yet finished, you may still be able to continue your learning with funding.

Asylum seekers

You may be eligible for funding if:

• You have been waiting 6 months or more for a decision on your asylum claim.
• You receive support from your local authority as a care leaver or under relevant social care legislation.

If your asylum claim has been refused

You may still be eligible if:

• You have appealed the decision and have been waiting more than 6 months for an outcome.
• You receive support under Section 4 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999.
• You receive eligible support from your local authority.

Discounts on course fees

If your course is not fully funded, you may be able to pay a reduced fee.

You may qualify for a reduced fee if you:

• Receive eligible benefits.
• Earn less than £26,800 a year.

You will need to provide proof.

Important information

• We check eligibility when you enrol.
• You must be eligible when your course starts.
• Funding cannot be provided if you are not eligible when your course begins.
• We can only fund courses that there is enough time for you to complete.
