Bentilee Nursery School – proposed closure consultation

Bentilee Nursery School closure proposal

We are proposing to close Bentilee Nursery School, Dawlish Drive, Bentilee, Stoke‑on‑Trent, ST2 0HW.

The proposed closure date is 31 August 2026.

This proposal is made under section 15(1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006. We have followed the legal consultation requirements for this proposal.

What this means for children

  • We will not admit any new pupils to Bentilee Nursery School after 31 August 2026.
  • Children attending the school on that date will be offered places at:
    • Maple Court Academy, or
    • Eaton Park Academy

We have chosen these schools because they have suitable provision and are well placed to support children from the local community.

Why we are proposing this change

A report explaining this proposal was approved at our Cabinet meeting on 21 April 2026.

Without action, the school’s budget deficit is likely to continue to increase. This would place additional pressure on funding for schools across the city. The proposed closure would help reduce this risk by moving to a different way of providing early years education.
