This Supplementary Planning Document aims to ensure that the access needs of everyone irrespective of age, gender or disability are taken into account in the design of buildings, places and spaces. To be effective it is important that such needs are integrated at the beginning of the planning process. The Supplementary Planning Document provides detailed guidance on a range of access issues.

The Inclusive Design Supplementary Planning Document was approved by the City Council on 7 February 2008 and formally adopted on 30 May 2008.
