The 1,000th adult to sign up for this year’s Potters ’Arf will win free entry to the race and a six-month membership to Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s gyms.

The Hanley Economic Potters 'Arf Marathon is one of the most unique, community-spirited races in the UK.

It has amazing support across Stoke-on-Trent, places for all, a wonderful atmosphere at the city centre finish, special Potteries medals created by Wade Ceramics, fantastic challenges and more.

Entries are now open for the 2021 event and organisers want this year’s race to be a shining ray of hope, with as many people as possible taking part on Sunday, September 26.

Runners, walkers and relay teams are being encouraged to enter now – and the 1,000th adult participant to sign up will receive the gym pass and free entry prize.

To enter the competition, people must visit stoke.gov.uk/pottersarf and complete an online application, together with full payment, for the Potters ’Arf adult run, walk or the relay.

Councillor Lorraine Beardmore, cabinet member for public health, culture and leisure, said: “After the disappointment of having to cancel last year’s race, we couldn’t be more excited for this year’s Potters ’Arf – it’s shaping up to be a fantastic event and a celebration of the wonderful community spirit we have here in Stoke-on-Trent.

“Whether you’re already an avid runner or walker, or if you’re just starting out as a runner, the Potters ‘Arf is the one for you, or if you don’t want to take on the course alone, you can also sign up with friends or colleagues as a relay team.

“I’d love for this to be our biggest year yet, and so we want as many runners, walkers and relay teams as possible to sign up to experience that incredible atmosphere that you won’t find anywhere else. We’d encourage anyone who’s thinking about signing up to do it soon – you could be the winning 1,000th entry.”

If the winner is an individual runner or walker, they will get six months’ membership to Shapes Health and Leisure Club at Fenton Manor Sports Complex, Dimensions Leisure Centre in Burslem, and Wallace Sport and Education Centre in Abbey Hulton when the facilities fully reopen later this year. If they are part of a relay team – each member of the group will receive a six-month pass. The winning individual or relay team will also get free entry into this year’s iconic Potters ‘Arf.

The competition is not open to children entered for the junior fun run. For full terms and conditions, please visit stoke.gov.uk/pottersarf
