A shining ray of hope
The Potters 'Arf is one of the most unique races in the UK, with amazing Stokie support; places for all; a wonderful atmosphere at the city centre finish; special Potteries medals created by Wade Ceramics, and fantastic challenges.
It includes walking and relay team sections for those who do not want to run the full distance. There is also a 1,000-metre junior race for youngsters aged six to 15 years old.
The event has huge mental and physical health benefits, as well as raising thousands of pounds for local charities – including the main causes the Douglas Macmillan Hospice and The Alice Charity.
Now vaccinations are well under way in Stoke-on-Trent and across the UK, and given the recent announcements from the Government, the team are very optimistic that the race will go ahead and it can be a shining ray of hope in 2021.
The city council is writing to all participants who deferred their places from the cancelled 2020 event to invite them to the 2021 race. Deferred entrants will be contacted separately by email with information on how to register.
Organisers hope that around 2,000 participants will be able to tackle the 13.1-mile course.
The safety of residents and participants is of the upmost importance and we will be regularly reviewing the guidance provided by the Government and England Athletics in the run-up to the event.
