A tenant in Stoke has been evicted as part of a city council crackdown on anti-social behaviour (ASB).
Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s ASB Team have successfully secured possession of a property on Fletcher Road, Stoke, after a prolonged period of serious anti-social behaviour and criminal activity that caused ongoing distress to neighbours.
Residents reported persistent noise, disorder and threats linked to the tenant and visitors to the property. Complaints included loud music, shouting, fighting, substance misuse and behaviour that damaged the wellbeing and sense of safety of those living nearby.
Despite early interventions - including advice, monitoring, and the issuing of a Community Protection Warning (CPW) - incidents continued and escalated.
Reports included:
- Disorder in the street involving threats and criminal damage
- Indecent exposure and behaviour causing alarm and distress
- References to weapons, resulting in police searches
- Evidence of drug misuse and suspected exploitation by third parties
Police were also called to the property on numerous occasions. The tenant was arrested for multiple offences, including criminal damage, outraging public decency and public order offences. Following court proceedings, the tenant received a community order with drug rehabilitation requirements.
The ASB Team worked closely with Staffordshire Police and partner agencies throughout the case. Actions taken included:
- Deployment of noise monitoring equipment and CCTV
- Issuing of CPWs and Community Protection Notices
- Multi-agency meetings to offer support and address vulnerabilities
- Legal proceedings initiated under absolute grounds for possession
The tenant continued to breach conditions and did not engage with support. The council therefore progressed legal proceedings and secured a possession order.
On 27 November 2025, the ASB Team, along with the court’s bailiff, executed a warrant for the eviction. Police were present to ensure safety. During the process, several individuals who had been occupying the property, without authorisation, were removed. The property has now been secured and measures are being taken to prevent further unauthorised access.
Councillor Duncan Walker, cabinet member for safe and resilient communities at Stoke-on-Trent City Council, said: “This eviction demonstrates our firm commitment to protecting residents from persistent anti-social behaviour. Support was offered throughout, but the behaviour continued and caused significant disruption. The ASB Team have worked closely with the police and partners to take decisive action and restore safety and reassurance for local residents.”
Chief Inspector Laura Davies, of the Stoke-on-Trent north local policing team, said: “We received multiple reports of anti-social behaviour and associated criminality linked to this address and we do not underestimate the impact that such behaviour can have on neighbours and the wider community.
“We welcome this action by Stoke-on-Trent City Council and we will continue to work alongside local partners to tackle issues that matter most to communities.”
