Community groups across Stoke-on-Trent can now apply for funding to support events and activities that bring people together and celebrate local pride.
The Small Community Event Grants programme, run by Stoke-on-Trent City Council and funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), is offering grants of £500 to £1,000. The money can be used to cover costs such as staffing, venue hire and professional services.
Applicants will need to provide a small contribution in return, which can include volunteer time or the use of event space.
The grants are open to legally constituted organisations within the city and could support projects such as:
- Community celebrations and festivals
- Youth activities and events
- Environmental projects
- Arts and cultural programmes
Councillor Jane Ashworth, leader of Stoke-on-Trent City Council, said: “Community groups are the lifeblood of Stoke-on-Trent – they bring people together, pass on knowledge, and celebrate what makes our city special. As we mark our Centenary year, it’s more important than ever to support the people who make our communities great.”
Applications will be prioritised based on their value for money, how well they reflect the council’s priorities - making Stoke-on-Trent safer, cleaner, greener, healthier, wealthier, fairer or more skilled - and their potential to bring groups together in partnership. All projects must be completed by 31 March 2026.
Councillor Sarah Hill, cabinet member for finance, anti-poverty and corporate services, said: "These grants are a fantastic opportunity for local groups to bring people together and celebrate what makes our communities special. Whether it’s a neighbourhood festival, a youth activity or an environmental project, we want to support events that make Stoke-on-Trent a healthier, safer and more connected city. I encourage all eligible organisations to apply and help us build a stronger sense of community across the city."
Applications must be submitted electronically by midnight on Friday 31st October 2025 or go to www.stoke.gov.uk/grants
