Unpaid carers encouraged to take part in national carers survey

Published: Thursday, 9th November 2023

Unpaid carers across Stoke-on-Trent are being encouraged to share their opinions as part of a national survey.

This statutory survey is a collaboration between all local authorities, including Stoke-on-Trent City Council and the NHS, with surveys having been distributed to unpaid carers during October.

The unpaid carers survey is part of the national Carers Strategy, with the results used to inform decisions about how services are supplied to carers.

To encourage more unpaid carers to fill in the survey, staff from the Commissioning team at Stoke-on-Trent City Council will be holding drop-in sessions at Stoke-on-Trent libraries to assist any unpaid carers with completing the survey.

The drop-in sessions will take place on:

  • Monday 13th November           - Tunstall Library 1.30pm – 3.30pm
  • Wednesday 15th November      - Meir Library 10-12pm
  • Friday 17th November              - City Central Library, Hanley 10-12pm
  • Monday 20th November           - Bentilee Library 10-12pm
  • Tuesday 21st November           - Stoke Library 1.30-3.30pm
  • Friday 24th November               - Longton Library 10-12pm

Cllr Duncan Walker, cabinet member for Adult Services said:

“This survey is extremely important, as it helps to inform the City Council and the NHS of the pressures that unpaid carers face and how they can be combatted.

“If you would like to know more about the survey or need help filling it in, I would encourage unpaid carers to attend one of the drop-in sessions at our libraries throughout November.”
