Stoke-on-Trent City Council is reminding residents that help and support is available through the winter months from the Stronger Together Through Winter initiative.
Mental health and wellbeing support are available in Stoke-on-Trent throughout the festive Christmas and New Year period through the Stronger Together Through Winter campaign.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council is reminding residents that help and support is available through the winter months from the Stronger Together Through Winter initiative - a campaign uniting organisations across Stoke-on-Trent to provide support.
Along with support on mental health and wellbeing advice on energy costs, financial support and accessing benefits, mental health, affordable food and a wide range of other assistance is available.
The city council has also established a dedicated mental health helpline with Brighter Futures to provide callers with a safe space to talk about issues they are facing.
Cllr Ally Simcock, cabinet member for adult social care and health care said: “We know that the festive season can be tough for some people and it can be really difficult to talk about how you’re feeling at a time when it seems like everyone is having a great time.
“If you, or someone you know, are struggling with mental health and wellbeing you are not alone this winter. Our Stronger Together Through Winter campaign has brought together so many of our wonderful community and voluntary groups in the city to support people at what can be a really difficult time of year.
“These are tough times for us all, and looking after our mental health is as important as looking after our physical health. Whether you’re feeling low and anxious or struggling to cope, please do call the helpline or take a look at the support and resources available on the Stronger Together Through Winter website.”
Residents can find details of the Stronger Together Through Winter programme at www.stoke.gov.uk/strongertogether or call 01782 208200 Monday-Friday 2pm-7pm.
The mental health helpline can be accessed free 2pm – 2am, every day of year on 0808 800 2234.
