Post 16 Transport

The post 16 transport statement aims to provide information about the options available to young people to travel around the Stoke-on-Trent area so they can attend school, college or work.

The statement also includes:

  • Information about how young people with SEND can apply for assistance with travel where this is needed and also provides information and signposting so young people are able to travel independently
  • Information about how young people with SEND can apply for assistance with travel is also included. If eligible, travel assistance will be provided by the Local Authority. This assistance may be in the form of travel training or other support to travel independently, a personal travel budget or in some cases through provision of a place on a commissioned vehicle.

The statement also includes where to find information on public transport across the city as well as products that may reduce the cost of public transport for young people. For example guidance is included on how young people can find out about any sources of funding that they may be eligible to apply for to help them meet the costs of travelling to school or college, including bursary funds and the Care to Learn scheme.

Information on the financial contribution that may be required for Post 16 SEND travel assistance is also included in the statement.

Note: Please read the Transport Statement before answering our online questionnaire.
