Stoke on Trent City Council Learn4work team is a training provider, delivering work-based training to support an individual in successfully gaining a job, progressing in further study or career.

Apprenticeship Academy (Traineeship and Study Programmes)

Offering qualifications for 16 – 24-year olds Programme starts are September and February.

Both Study Programme and Traineeships are supportive training programmes that will help you to develop real life employability skills and qualities, whilst planning your next steps.

Offering individualised 6- or 12-month programmes that will support you into an apprenticeship, further education or employment.

 

Study Programme

Study programmes are flexible programmes built around the needs of individual students. We design this programme to give you the knowledge, skills and behaviours you need to progress onto further learning or employment

Our Study programmes are a combination of work experience, workshops, pastoral support and enrichment opportunities.

A study programme also provides you with a bursary of £20.00 per week during your placement, you even receive a bus pass. If you are in receipt of benefits these will not be affected

 

Traineeships

Kickstart your career with a Traineeship. This is a stepping stone to an apprenticeship or job, improve up your CV or applications with the skills and experience employers are looking for!

  • Gain independence and confidence
  • Meet like-minded young people
  • An opportunity to network with potential employers
  • Gain the key skills and work experience to progress in your chosen career

A traineeship programme also provides you with a bursary of £30.00 per week during your placement, you even receive a bus pass. If you are in receipt of benefits these will not be affected.

 

Programme Outline:

Successful candidates will initially complete a 6-week Traineeship and gain the following qualifications and employability and work skills:

  • Communication skills
  • Time Management
  • Teamworking
  • Problem Solving

 

Progression:

At the end of your placement you will be assisted with progressing into an apprenticeship or job in your local area, as part of your traineeship we will also support you with your CV and interview skills.

Plus:

1-2-1 teaching support through regular tutorials

Career Planning

Guidance on applications processes for employment, education, apprenticeships and other options suitable

CV Writing, Cover Letters, Interview Preparation and Profiling on Websites

Benefits:

This Traineeship work experience is part of an education and training programme that is focused on giving you the skills and experience that employers are looking for. At its core is the Work Preparation training, English and maths for those who need it, and a high-quality work experience placement.

Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships combine practical training in a job with study. As an apprentice you'll: be an employee earning a wage and getting holiday pay, working alongside experienced staff. ...  you will get time for training and study related to your role (at least 20% of your normal working hours)

The Apprenticeship Hub

The Apprenticeship Hub is able to guide and give valuable advice from early on in the process right thought to completion, for individual interested in completing an apprenticeship, a manger looking to recruit a new apprentice or upskill your team.

The Apprenticeship Hub can offer:

  • Expert advice and guidance
  • Pre-screen applicants
  • Support you with your recruitment and interview process.
  • Procurement of apprenticeships not available internally
  • Help you to understand what you need to do to support, encourage and guide your apprentice through their Apprenticeship training programme
  • Offer pastoral support to your apprentice (if required)
