This training needs to meet the needs of staff working in a wide range of settings in particular Housing and Social care (Adults and Children) The content of the two day training course will need to cover the core principles of motivational interviewing, providing the delegates with the essential skills relating to the concept of how people are motivated to change, and recognising the signs of resistance to change. Following the training they will be required to have learnt the skills and attributes relating to interviewing and counselling, make a realistic assessment of a client's motivation, use those interviewing and counselling skills thus to elicit and foster the client's wish to change.
