InformationConstruction of Concrete Rafts in any one of the nine Stoke on Trent City Cemeteries - Provide a concrete raft either even grade or stepped type in accordant with defined specification of works onto which memorial headstones are to be positioned by Monumental Masons:- Even grade - carry out following works 1 - excavate area to a depth of 300mm 2 - construct formwork allowing for expansion joints (25mm gaps) at 10 metre spacing's - Gap created by timber board 3 - lay 150mm depth MOT type 2 blinded and compact to an even firm level 4 - position reinforcement mesh, code no.A142, laid onto 50mm deep proprietary spacers, spaced sufficiently to support the mesh. Where mesh section join there should be an overlap of 300mm 5 - cover mesh carefully with concrete to achieve the full depth of the slab of 150mm. Carefully apply vibrating poker to remove air bubbles and compact concrete. C30 ready mixed concrete must be used. All delivery tickets must be submitted to the authorised officers representative for checking 6 - ensure top surface is to an even level. Spray lightly with water and smooth surface using a timber board or trowel 7 - cover concrete with polythene sheeting of minimum thickness 1000 gauge for a minimum of 2 days to avoid fissuring and a pitted surface 8 - expansion joints are to be positioned equal distance along the length of the raft for visual purposes, but not more than 10 meters apart. The expansion joint shall be 25mm wide 9 - a period of 21 days must elapse before the raft is used for intended purpose, thereby ensuring full curing and hardening Stepped Rafts as above but when the overlap stepped section is formed Price required is per m2 and per step
