| Who is this for? | Due to the ubiquitous nature of the internet, and the fact going online has become as natural, and easy to access, as the world outside of your front door, it is essential that we know how to use the online world safely. From parents to grandparents to teachers to basically anyone who uses the internet (which is pretty much everyone) this workshop is for you. It is designed to help navigate the emotional, financial and potential life-threatening dangers and hazards of the online world by providing tools to help keep you and your family safe from harmful online influences and exploitative forces. Not only will you be gaining the appropriate skills, tools and confidence you need to help keep your family and children safe online the workshop also offers you the information on how to respond appropriately to any concerns you may have to a person at risk and what relevant agencies with which to report any issues to. |
| Entry requirements | 19 plus years of age Live in stoke on Trent You will need a basic level of computer literacy You should have a sufficient level of English language to engage in discussions, complete exercises, and understand course materials and to complete written assessments. |
| What will I learn? | New and emerging online trends, apps and threats. Online emotional, sexual and finical exploitation and bullying. How to identify and report a safeguarding issue. Making accounts secure, identifying scams and creating safe passwords. How to have informed, open and constructive conversations with your children and vulnerable members of your family and to serve as a counterbalance of normality to ever pervasive ideological threats presented by powerful online influencers. |
| What do I need to bring? | You will need to bring a notepad and pen and it will be useful to bring a mobile phone with data on it, as some activities may require you to use your phone. |
