Closure of Copeland Street Car Park
From Monday 18 March 2024, Copeland Street Car Park will be out of public use.
Why is this happening?
This closure from public use is due to the space being required as part of the Environment Agency's work on the Fowlea Brook.
Our works stretch from Shelton Old Road down to the Civic Centre. We are undertaking significant repairs on the existing 1960s channel to ensure it remains operational. We are also taking steps to improve the standard of protection from flooding by building new flood defences.
This will enable regeneration in areas which have struggled due to the current flood risk designation.
We appreciate this is an inconvenience and are sorry for any disruption this has caused.
How long is this closure?
The difficult access into the channel make this a relatively slow construction - so we expect Copeland Street to remain closed into 2025. We will update these notices and more information can be found on our project website.
Where are alternative car parks?
Other alternative parking is available at Kingsway, Stoke Station West or Spark Street.
Where can I find out more information about these works?
We have a project website which provides more detail on our works. This can be found by searching 'Environment Agency Fowlea Brook,' or click here. - Postcode
