ELC Care is an independent Social Work practice led by Emma Couchman, an experienced Social worker with over 30 years’ experience supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
Emma has spent over two decades working within local authority adult social care services, supporting individuals with complex needs, including those with mental health and physical health conditions. During this time she developed extensive experience in assessment, care planning, risk management and safeguarding, working closely with individuals, families and partner organisations to ensure people receive the support they need.
Emma also spent 10 years managing social work teams, supporting practitioners to deliver high-quality services while ensuring that individuals remained at the centre of decision-making.
Eight years ago Emma established ELC Care – Independent Social Work Practice to enable her to spend more time working directly with individuals and families and to provide more personalised support than is often possible within statutory services.
Through ELC Care, Emma specialises in supporting individuals to understand and access the financial and legal support they are entitled to, including:
• Support with Personal Independence Payment (PIP) applications, reviews, appeals and tribunal reports
• Assistance with Attendance Allowance applications
• Guidance and support with Lasting Power of Attorney for Health & Welfare and Property & Financial Affairs
• Independent social work assessments
• Care planning and risk assessments
• Advice and support for individuals and families
• navigating adult social care systems
Emma’s practice is person-centred, strengths-based and focused on promoting independence, ensuring that individuals remain at the heart of every decision affecting their lives.
With a deep understanding of both statutory services and the challenges individuals face when accessing support, Emma is committed to helping people maintain dignity, independence and the best possible quality of life.
