The data will be used to fulfil our statutory and operational needs in relation to free school meals and Pupil Premium. We are able to do this because we have obligations under the Education Act 1996, the Welfare Reform Act 2012 and the Children and Families Act 2014.
You do not have to make use of this service, but anyone who is eligible is encouraged to do so.
We are required by law to hold and share some of your information with:- the Department for Education
- schools or establishments for which your child attends
- schools or other establishments to which your child is to be admitted
We have a duty to protect public funds so may use the information we have for the prevention and detection of fraud. We may share this information with other bodies for these purposes.
We may share data with our internal audit team to evaluate the effectiveness of the organisation’s risk management, control and governance processes. We may also share your data with the council's fraud team to help to prevent and detect fraud.
Data protection law provides you with certain rights, however not all of these rights will be available to you in all situations. Where we are under a legal duty to use data for a particular purpose you will not have the right to prevent it being used in that way.
