Stoke-on-Trent Local Plan - Site Nominations

The council is looking to identify sites to help meet all future development needs in Stoke-on-Trent. This form can be submitted to help us to identify a range of sites, including:

  • Housing – Over 0.25 hectares or could accommodate 5 or more dwellings (e.g. market housing, affordable housing, older persons accommodation, self & custom build and Gypsy and Traveller accommodation);
  • Employment - Over 0.25 hectares or could accommodate over 500sqm of employment floorspace (e.g. offices, light industrial, industrial and warehousing);
  • Retail (e.g. convenience retail, supermarkets, shopping centres and retail parks);
  • The redevelopment of sites,
  • Social Infrastructure (e.g. schools, health facilities, community facilities);
  • Open space (e.g. local greenspace, accessible natural greenspace, land for biodiversity net gain, sports pitches, playing fields, parks or gardens); and
  • Other uses or mix of above uses.

The sites need to have a realistic prospect of development within the next 20 years. Sites that fall outside the above parameters will not be considered.

What do I need to do?

Please identify the site and provide information to help us assess the suitability and potential delivery of development.

  1. Complete the following sections with as much information as possible.
  2. Provide a scaled site plan clearly showing the site boundary in red and at least two named roads to help confirm its exact location.
  3. Submit your form and plan online, via email or to the address at the end of the document.

A separate form needs to be completed and submitted for each site.

Nominating a site for assessment does not imply that the Council agrees with the information provided or that it should be developed. By submitting this form, you are providing consent for a representative of the Council to assess the site to determine if the site is developable.

The Council will publish its finding in its Strategic Housing/Employment Land Availability Assessment (SHELAA) which will be used as a key piece of evidence to inform the Development Plan for the area.

The inclusion of any site in the SHELAA does not guarantee that planning permission will be granted or that the site will be allocated for development.
