Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s Sunday outdoor market finds a new temporary home

Published: Wednesday, 26th February 2020

Hanley’s popular Sunday market and car boot sale is now moving to a new central location.

The weekend market and car boot sale which is normally held at Hinde Street car park will move this Sunday to a new temporary location, the car park at Birch Terrace next to Hanley bus station.

From hot food to antiques and bric-a-brac, the market and car boot sale welcomes loyal bargain hunters each week.

The move comes as the city council is set to turn Lower Hinde Street car park into parking for people staying at the neighbouring Hilton Garden Inn Hotel which will open later this year.
Councillor Carl Edwards, cabinet member for environment said: “The Sunday outdoor market and car boot is extremely popular with people throughout the city, whatever the weather.

“I am personally looking forward to seeing it thrive at its new temporary home. At this new location people who are travelling to Hanley via bus will be closer to the market and there will still be parking for people travelling by car.”

The outdoor market and car boot sale will move to Birch Terrace from Sunday 1 March and will be open Sunday’s 8am-3pm.
