Free parking for Christmas shoppers across the city

Published: Wednesday, 26th November 2025

Christmas is coming early in Stoke-on-Trent – with free parking across all six towns and Meir on the two Saturdays in the run-up to the big day.

The measure, which will apply to all surface-level council-run car parks*, will give a boost to traders as well as residents and visitors to Stoke-on-Trent.

On Saturday 13 December and Saturday 20 December, shoppers to Burslem, Fenton, Hanley, Longton, Tunstall, Stoke and Meir will benefit from free parking (midnight to midnight) at council-run car parks.

The car parks are:

Burslem – Chapel Lane, Market Place, St John Square;

Tunstall – Butterfield Place, Tower Square, Farndale Street, Hunt Street and Woodland St;

Fenton – City Road (accessed from Baker Street);

Stoke – Aquinas Street, Copeland Street, Hide Street, Kingsway, South Wolfe Street, Spark Street and Vale Street;

Hanley - Charles Street, Hinde Street, Hope Street, Meigh Street, Pall Mall and Huntbach Street car parks.

Longton – Longton Exchange, Chancery Lane and Commerce Street;

Meir – Weston Road.

Councillor Amjid Wazir - cabinet member for city pride, enforcement and sustainability at Stoke-on-Trent City Council - said: “Christmas is fast approaching, and with it comes more footfall into our towns and city - and not just for Christmas shopping.

“Plenty of festive events are happening in town centres, and it is a time when people come together to meet up.

“Take the opportunity to support your local high street this Christmas.”

In the meantime, people are being urged to make safe and responsible decisions this Christmas - including the decision to not get behind the wheel of a car if you are drinking.
