Statement on Tunstall Memorial Garden gates and railings

Published: Friday, 7th November 2025

The installation of the gates and railings at Tunstall Memorial Garden has been delayed by one week.

During restoration, it became clear that the condition of the gates was worse than initially anticipated and required additional treatment to ensure they are properly preserved.

Rather than installing part of the gates in stages, the decision has been made to complete the full installation in one go to maintain quality and consistency.

Unfortunately, this means the gates will not be in place in time for the Remembrance event on Sunday. We appreciate everyone’s understanding as this important restoration work is completed to the highest standard.

In the meantime, we are pleased to see good progress on the improvements to the frontage of Palace Court, located opposite the Memorial Gardens. This work demonstrates our ongoing commitment to enhancing the image of Tunstall Town for residents, businesses, and the wider community.

Further works are planned to support maintenance improvements required for the Pavilion at the Memorial Gardens in November and any further plans will include community input.
