An underground services survey is to be carried out at the Milton Road and Hanley Road junction, in Sneyd Green, to help plan for potential future improvements to the area.
The surveys will help the council better understand what utilities infrastructure is present beneath the surface, which is an important first step in exploring ways to improve the safety and operation of the junction.
To ensure the safety of both the workforce and the public, temporary traffic management will be in place from Monday 3 November to Wednesday 5 November, between 9:30am and 3pm, while the work takes place. The road will be clear overnight.
The council is aware of other ongoing works in the area and will coordinate activities wherever possible to minimise disruption.
Councillor Finlay Gordon-McCusker, cabinet member for transport, infrastructure and regeneration at Stoke-on-Trent City Council, said: “We know this junction has been the site of several incidents over recent years, and we’re looking carefully at what improvements could be made, subject to future funding.
“The survey work is the first step - helping us understand what’s underground so we can design any future scheme in a way that minimises diversions and disruption.
“We’d like to thank residents, businesses and road users for their patience and understanding while these essential surveys are carried out. We know how frustrating the disruption is for residents and commuters, we are working at pace to complete the works as quickly as possible.”
