Ceramics Makers’ Market to return in time for Christmas at Gladstone Pottery Museum

Published: Thursday, 9th November 2023

Christmas shoppers and ceramics enthusiasts are being invited to attend a popular Makers’ Market at Gladstone Pottery Museum.

After the runaway success of the first-ever Makers’ Market at the museum in February the ceramic event is making a much-welcomed return ahead of the main Christmas shopping period this November.

The market will take place on Saturday 18 November between 11am and 4pm, with a pop-up café selling refreshments.

Over 50 local and national ceramic makers are confirmed to attend with past contestants from the hit television series The Great Pottery Throw Down, including Jennifer Cobb, Vithushanan Karunakaran, Miles Johnson, Henry Moore, Tom Demeranville, Lucinda Lovesey, and Adam Johnson.

Adam Johnson went on to say: “Stoke-on-Trent holds a special place in my heart and I’m thrilled to be taking part in the Ceramic Makers’ Market.”

“Gladstone Pottery Museum is such a jewel of the UK’s arts and crafts heritage and I can’t wait to return to be surrounded by lots of fantastic potters, this time to be selling our clay creations and chatting all about our love of pottery.“

Councillor Jane Ashworth, leader of Stoke-on-Trent City Council, said: “Our Makers’ Market proved extremely successful in February so this time it is free for pottery and ceramics enthusiasts to come along and appreciate the bespoke works of clay art for sale.”

“Whether you are looking for a unique Christmas gift for a loved one, or want to browse for yourself, this market is the place to visit.”
