Stoke-on-Trent’s SEND information hub for help advice and support

Stoke-on-Trent City Council have refreshed and relaunched their Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Local Offer website.

The Local Offer brings together information from education, health and social care about Special Educational Needs and/or Disability (SEND) in one place and covers children and young people from birth to 25 years.

The Local Offer website provides information, help, advice and support for families, children, young people with SEND. It offers information on education, health and social care provision for children and young people with SEN or disabilities. This includes:

  •  Education – including online and blended learning
  • Other educational provision, for example sports or arts provision, paired reading schemes
  • Childcare
  • Social care and staying safe
  •  Health
  • Being independent and preparing for adulthood
  • Details of how parents and young people can request an assessment for an Education Healthcare Plan

The Local Offer team will have a stall at the Together We Thrive SEND event on Tuesday 27 June, 10.30am – 5pm at the King’s Hall in Stoke. Parents, families and young people are invited to attend, find out more about the Local Offer and provide feedback on the relaunched website, and how to get involved in the continued development of the Local Offer website.

Councillor David Williams, cabinet member for communities, education and safety said: “The Local Offer is a ‘one-stop shop’ for anyone who needs information on our SEND services so I welcome improvements to the site and I look forward to working with families to keep making it better. It will really, really help anyone in Stoke-on-Trent who needs advice and support for children with SEND.

“It’s vital that young people with SEND get the support they need to fulfil their potential and providing them and their families with all the information they need will be key to this.
