Ask for a premises to have its licence reviewed

If you live or run a business near a licensed premises, and have concerns about the way the premises is run you can ask for its licence to be reviewed, or someone can do this on your behalf. This is free.

The reason for asking for a licence to be reviewed must be:

  • because of concerns about the prevention of crime or disorder
  • because there are worries about public safety
  • because the premises is causing a nuisance to the public
  • because there could be a risk to children.

You must send the form to:

  • the city council
  • the person who holds the premises licence
  • Staffordshire Police Authority, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Authority and any other legal organisations which carry out work in the area

If we think the reason you have asked for the premises licence to be reviewed isn't significant enough, or they have already been looked at, we can refuse to review the licence. If this happens, we will tell you the reasons why.

If your application is accepted, we'll advertise the licence is to be reviewed, other interested parties and responsible authorities will have 28 days to respond. After that, a hearing will be held and you will be invited to attend, along with the licensee and anyone else who has responded.
