  • Time: 14:00 - 19:00

Party-fever is coming to the Dudson Centre to commemorate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with fun and games for all the family!

The event will open with the reveal of a piece of community art produced by tenants and service users of the Dudson Centre with The Cultural Sisters over the previous few weeks. The mosaic will show the development of the Potteries world-famous industry through the 70 years of Her Majesty’s reign—celebrating the history of the Dudson Group and the effect it has had on the historic pottery industry in Stoke-on-Trent. As we celebrate together, our 1950s-themed fete will include a Dudson Cafe ‘Taste of History’ menu full of classic dishes from the time The Queen came to the throne including cottage pie and rice pudding that can be washed down with a glass or two of fruit punch. We’ll have a retro sweet shop that will be open for business, serving a pick ‘n’ mix of retro and modern sweets from iconic Blackjacks and fluffy Flumps, to gummy bears and the little fizzy ones that make your eyes water! With all that energy to burn from snacking on sweeties, the Dudson Centre courtyard will be buzzing with activity; chocka-block with ‘old-school’ games including tin-can alley, ring toss, and a coconut shy. Don’t forget Mrs Potts who will be sharing a special Jubilee story. And we’ll be dancing to a British and 50s soundtrack providing the ultimate party atmosphere to go with all our exciting activities. In the Dudson Museum, our pottery experts will be providing tours of the museum with a snapshot of the vast collection of local ceramics, its significance to the Potteries as a whole, and the fascinating history of the pottery industry in Stoke-on-Trent. Open from 2 pm until 7 pm, this celebration event is open to everyone, especially families and children. The event is free to attend, and optional chargeable activities are available on the day. https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/341886580967
