A Stoke-on-Trent City Council spokesperson said: “Our thoughts and sympathies are with those who have been affected by the terrible incident in London.
“The safety and wellbeing of our tenants is of utmost importance. We can confirm the cladding being installed in Bucknall New Road is not the same cladding as that used in Grenfell Tower. The cladding being used on the Bucknall New Road buildings is also the highest fire rated system (A class) and has a four-hour fire resistance rating.
“In addition, it is fixed directly to the external wall so there is no cavity between the insulation and the wall.
“All of our high-rise properties have fire alarm systems that are maintained and tested on a regular basis. We are working to make sure tenants are fully up to date on what to do in the event of a fire and have hand-delivered a letter which includes advice from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue to all high-rise block tenants.”
