A section of College Road in Shelton will be fully closed to traffic from approximately 10am on Wednesday 23 October 2019.

The full closure will be in force between Cauldon Road and Avenue Road, and will be for a minimum of six weeks, with future full closures of the road also planned.

Road users will already be aware that the southbound carriageway of College Road between Avenue Road and Stoke Station – heading from the city centre towards Stoke – has been closed since the start of September. This closure is allowing a total of 1.4km of piping to be installed for the second phase of a multi-million pound heat network that will have the ability to provide low cost, greener energy to businesses and households.

The works, and future planned works, will facilitate the safe installation of the rest of the heat network.

Bus routes that use College Road to head towards the city centre will make a short diversion along Station Road and right onto Stoke Road. To facilitate this, a small traffic island will temporarily be removed from the junction of Stoke Road and Station Road. Buses will then turn right from Stoke Road onto The Avenue, and then left back onto College Road.
