The city’s newest lottery has sold almost 1000 tickets for its first draw. Potto Lotto is a new online lottery for Stoke-on-Trent that aims to help raise funds for good causes.
There are currently 40 local good causes signed up to the lottery and more than 850 tickets were sold for the first draw. The Potto Lotto is on track to raise a total of more than £30,000 for good causes in its first year.
Stoke-on-Trent Foster Carers Association is one of the charities benefitting from the lottery. Cheryl Newman of the association said ‘Given today's economic climate and the lack of available funding (as there are too many causes chasing fewer pots of funding), we have welcomed the new Potto Lotto. It is an excellent opportunity to raise much-needed funds for Stoke-on-Trent Foster Carers Association and promote our cause. Local people can choose a specific cause in the knowledge that the cause will receive 50% of their ticket money directly, and, as an added bonus they could win prizes of up to £25,000. It’s definitely a win-win situation for both fundraisers and supporters!’
The new leader of Stoke-on-Trent City Council, Councillor Ann James, said: ‘It’s great that so many people are playing the lottery to support local good causes. Stoke-on-Trent is lucky to have lots of good causes that support the city and its residents. This is a great way to help them to raise some extra funds whilst giving players the chance to win up to £25,000.’
The first Potto Lotto draw took place on Saturday 19 May. Although there were no jackpot winners this week, four players did win themselves £25 each and 22 players won free tickets for the next Potto Lotto draw. Future draws will take place every Saturday night - for your chance to win up to £25,000 go to www.pottolotto.co.uk for more details.
