Booking a Covid-19 test

Where can you get tested in Stoke-on-Trent?

Community testing

One in three people have covid but don’t show any signs of the three main symptoms and that’s why regular testing is one of our main defences against this deadly virus. Keep your friends, colleagues and families safe by getting tested regularly.

People who book a coronavirus lateral flow test will be tested using new technology which gives results in just over 30 minutes, without the need to go to a lab to be processed. If you are asymptomatic or don’t have one of the three main symptoms but are feeling unwell you can book a community test.

You will get your results in 30 minuties and should you be negative, you can continue about your normal day-to-day business. 

Book a test

Milder symptoms include:

  • Headaches
  • Aches and pains
  • Feeling very tired for no good reason
  • Sore throat
  • Runny nose
  • Sneezing
  • Sometimes ‘tummy ache’ in children 

 

Regional testing

If you have any of the 3 classic symptoms (high temperature, cough, loss of taste/smell) you should book a test at a regional testing centre. People who book a coronavirus test at a regional centre will be tested using PCR and results will be given in 24-48 hours.

National tests can be booked at www.nhs.uk/coronavirus or by phoning 119.

Please remember:

  • If you are awaiting a coronavirus test result and you have one of the three main symptoms you should self-isolate
  • If you are awaiting a coronavirus test result and you have one of the milder symptoms you do not need to self-isolate
  • If you test positive, you need to self-isolate for 10 days and anyone you live or in your support bubble will need to self-isolate for 10 days

 

Community pharmacies 

In partnership with Central Health Solutions Ltd 20 community pharmacies will be offering free lateral flow tests for residents from Monday, February 22. From Thursday (February 18) residents will be able to book a test at one of the 20 pharmacies by booking through on the Central Health Solutions Ltd website www.1centralhealth.co.uk/stokelft . As long residents have no symptoms of coronavirus, they can access a COVID-19 lateral flow test by making an appointment at a community pharmacy in the area they live or work. The service is for everyone over the age of 11.
