Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO's)

Revoking a HMO licence

A HMO licence can be revoked under section 70 of the Housing Act 2004, when the council deems this necessary.

We may revoke a licence for the following reasons:

  • Where the authority considers that the licence holder has committed a serious breach of a licence condition or where there have been repeated breaches of such a condition.
  • Where the authority considers that the licence holder is no longer a fit and proper person.
  • Where the authority considers that the property is no longer suitable to be used as a HMO.
