  2. What you need to bring to the appointment

The European passport return service allows you to bring your passports to us for verification and copying. We then send the copies to the Home Office. This allows you to keep your passports while your applications for documentation to prove your right to live in the UK are being processed.

This service is available to people from European economic areas or Switzerland applying for documents to prove they have a right to live in the UK.

Complete your online application on GOV.UK and print off your document checklist before contacting us.

Contact us to use the European passport return service. You must come to an appointment at our register office within ten working days of sending your GOV.UK application. You can make an appointment to see us Monday to Friday, from 9am to 12pm.

We will copy your passport, certify it and send it and all the other documents to the Home Office on your behalf.

The charge for this service is £15 (non-refundable), paid on the day of booking.

Your documents will be weighed and the postage fee calculated at your appointment. We cannot post documents that weight more than 2.5kg.

We cannot give you any advice on your application. The Home Office may contact you for more information after you have applied. Our service is only for the copying and certification of your passport and is no guarantee you will be successful in your application. Contact the Home Office for more information.

We cannot copy and certify national identity cards. You will need to send the original card to the Home Office if you are applying with a national identity card.
