Planning applications during COVID-19

At the current time the Planning Service is continuing to operate normally; albeit remotely in accordance with the Government’s advice. Officers have access to the full range of resources whilst working remotely and can be contacted via phone or email. 

We will continue to process planning applications but there may be a delay in the consultation process. For example, larger scale and more complex applications may not be consulted on. Other applications will continue largely as normal but they will be judged on a case by case basis.

To assist the service we would ask that:

  • All correspondence is sent electronically to the contact details provided either on correspondence you receive or those detailed on our website
  • All applications are submitted via the Planning Portal
  • Photographs or video of the site are included with new submissions

The Council’s duty planning advice service continues to function and queries will continue to be dealt with via phone or email but face-to-face drop in sessions will not take place until further notice. The formal pre-application advice services are also operating normally.     

Planning enforcement matters can continue to be raised with the Council using the online forms.

Officers are limiting site visits and so you may be requested to provide further photographic information to assist in progressing cases. Meetings will also be held electronically using technology such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
