The Home to Work scheme aims to help people who live in the city of Stoke-on-Trent to overcome transport problems they are experiencing when trying to get to paid work in the north Staffordshire area. The scheme is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and Stoke-on-Trent City Council.
If you currently have a job it may be that we can help you with support on how best to get to work using the walking/cycling/bus routes or see if we can arrange a car share for you.
If you are unemployed and have a job offer, or if you have recently started a job, then Home to Work may be able to help you.
You will be assessed on your individual needs and circumstances and this will determine the level of support you are entitled to. This could include:
- A free bus pass
- Our flexi taxi service
- Loan of a bicycle
The project also works with employers in the north Staffordshire area to identify problems relating to employees accessing their site and to encourage sustainable travel amongst their staff. This will address the issue raised by employers that transport can act as a barrier for both attracting and retaining employees. Home to Work aims to provide employers with an upwardly mobile and stable workforce.
To be entitled to support from Home to Work you must:
- Live within the city of Stoke-on-Trent
- Be accessing work opportunities within North Staffordshire
- Be 16 or over
