Home to Work Project

Home to Work banner

The Home to Work Scheme aims to help people who live in the City of Stoke-on-Trent to overcome transport problems they are experiencing when trying to get to paid work, voluntary work, work experience or training in the North Staffordshire area. The scheme is funded by the European Regional Development Fund, Stoke-on-Trent City Council and The Coalfield Regeneration Trust.

If you currently have a job it may be that we can help you with support on how best to get to work using the walking/cycling/bus routes or see if we can arrange a car share for you.

If you are unemployed and have;
• An offer of voluntary work,
• An offer of work experience,
• A job offer,
• A place on a work related training course.

Or if you have recently started in one of these, then we may be able to advise you on how best to get to paid work, voluntary work, work experience or training using the walking/cycling/bus routes/car share or depending on your needs/circumstances you may be entitled to a bus pass.

You will be assessed on your individual needs and circumstances and this will determine the level of support you are entitled to.

The project will also work with employers in the North Staffordshire area to identify issues relating to employees accessing their site and to encourage sustainable travel amongst their employees. This will address the issue raised by employers that transport can act as a barrier for both attracting and retaining employees. Home to Work aims to provide employers with an upwardly mobile and stable workforce.

To be entitled to support from home to work you must;
• Live within the boundaries of the City of Stoke-On-Trent (Support for training and voluntary work experience is ward specific so please call us to find out if we can help)
• Be accessing work opportunities or training within North Staffordshire
• Be 16 or over
