Stoke-on-Trent is a partner in the Staffordshire Safer Roads Partnership which is working with other professionals towards reducing the number of road traffic casualties in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire.
We aim to reduce casualties through education, training, publicity, enforcement and engineering. Visit the Staffordshire Safer Roads Partnership website to see exactly what we are doing.
In 2010 casualties hit an all time low in the city!
There were 948 road traffic casualties recorded in Stoke-on-Trent in 2010. This compared to 1042 casulties recorded in 2009 - a decrease of 94 casualties which equals a 9% reduction on the previous year.
Whilst we are delighted to see road traffic casualties fall in our city, and whilst we have achieved all the government's casualty reduction targets over the last ten years, the number of people killed or seriously injured is still unacceptably high. We are committed to reducing the number of casualties even more.
