Stoke-on-Trent Local Transport Plan
The first Local Transport Plan for Stoke-on-Trent was published in July 2000. It covered the five year period from April 2001 to March 2006. This plan set out the transport vision:
"To create an integrated transport system in and around Stoke-on-Trent which meets the travel needs of all the city residents, employees, employers and visitors and achieves a safe, healthy and pleasant environment for everyone."
To work towards this vision, the Local Transport Plan:
- described the transport situation in Stoke-on-Trent in 2000;
- set out the transport objectives for the city;
- outlined our transport strategy and policies; and
- contained the implementation programme to achieve the objectives.
The first Local Transport Plan has invested £34.5 million to improve and maintain the transport system using capital allocations from Government. These capital allocations have included good progress reward funding. This reward funding meant we were allocated £2.293 million more than the indicative allocation at the start of the five year plan.
We have produced a Delivery Report for our first Local Transport Plan to describe the overall impact on Stoke-on-Trent, the contribution to wider objectives, progress towards targets and a detailed account of five strategy areas. We also produced Annual Progress Reports throughout our first Local Transport Plan.
