Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders

Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders are legal orders required when a section of road needs to be closed to vehicles or pedestrians to:

  • enable works to be carried out safely by contractors - such as work for gas, electric, water, demolition contractors; or
  • to hold special events such as marathons.

We advertise these orders in the local press. They will tell you if a section of road is going to be closed and gives you at least seven days notice of the closure from the date it is published. The order will also give the reasons why the road is being closed.

If you need a temporary traffic regulation order or you wish to know more information on the ones currently advertised please contact us using the quick link provided on this page or download the Temporary Traffic Regulation Order Application Form.
