Roads in Stoke-on-Trent

The road network is important to allow people to travel safely and efficiently around the city, whether by car, bus, commercial vehicle, taxi, cycle or on foot.

We are responsible for over 850km of roads in the city. This means keeping them maintained, cleaned and well lit at night. We are also responsible for providing traffic lights, road signs, road markings and safe road crossings and these also need to be looked after.

The Department of Environment & Transport has overall responsibility for these issues.
