The national bus pass
The national bus pass was launched on 1 April 2008. This means you may qualify for free bus travel anywhere in England if you live in Stoke-on-Trent and are:
- aged 60 or over; or
- disabled*
The new national bus pass will only allow free off-peak** travel. But residents in Stoke-on-Trent will be able to benefit from all day free travel throughout Staffordshire. Please note that if you are travelling outside of Staffordshire you may have to pay if you travel at peak times.
* There are seven categories of disability which are set by the Department for Transport. To find out what they are please follow this link Who can apply for a national bus pass?
** Off-peak hours are 9.30am - 11pm Monday to Friday and all day weekends and bank holidays.
When you use your pass please note that:
- only you can use your pass; and
- you must show the pass to the driver when you get on the bus and when asked by authorised personnel.
